Next exhibition DECLIC 70 from April 1st to May 5th at the Gallery Port Maurice
Pictures exclusively in black and white, scenes of daily life without any frills, eleven Quebec artists pay tribute to the documentary photography of the seventies.
An authentic and powerful way to go back in time to an age of Quebec which was often neglected or denigrated. And a way to rediscover the major events in Quebec history, through a medium which deserves a better place in the artistic scene.
From April 1st to May 5th 2013 Port Maurice Gallery, 8420, bd Lacordaire Montréal - Arr. Saint-Léonard (514) 328 8500 poste 8514
Catherine Bolduc WINNER of the BEST PUBLICATION AWARDS at the visual arts Gala 2012
As an overview of Catherine Bolduc’s production, this book presents the third installment of the survey exhibition « My Air Castles » – installment 1 and 2 had been curated by Genevièse Goyer-Ouimette and had been presented at EXPRESSION (2009) and then at Salle Alfred-Pellan (2010).
« My Air Castles and other Fabulations » allows a privileged access to an approach rooted around human vulnerability and the mismatch between desires and reality.
This book also presents a panorama of the entire production of the artist that consists of installations, sculptures, drawings and videos.
Taking the form of the literary work, this publication uses the three-dimensionality, materiality, form and use of the "book object" that will provide to the reader an immersive effect to "relive" the experience of some in situ installations disappeared. The essays presented in this book offer a new perspective on the artist’s work by pointing the essential contribution of literature in his work.
The authors, Anne-Marie St-Jean Aubre, Catherine Bolduc, Marc-Antoine K. Phaneuf, the Commissioner for publication, Genevieve Goyer-Ouimette and graphic designer Jean-François Proulx worked together to make this book a space in itself.
